Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Cold unsalted butter - 100 grams
  • Water - 60 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground chicken - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Curry powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut milk - 50 ml
  • Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green peas - 50 grams, optional
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough forms. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. In a pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until translucent.
  5. Add the ground chicken, curry powder, and black pepper. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink.
  6. Stir in the coconut milk, soy sauce, and green peas (if using). Cook for an additional 5 minutes until thickened. Let it cool.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 3 mm thickness. Cut into circles (10 cm diameter).
  8. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal the edges with a fork.
  9. Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
