Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Cold unsalted butter - 100 grams
- Water - 60 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground chicken - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Curry powder - 1 tablespoon
- Coconut milk - 50 ml
- Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green peas - 50 grams, optional
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough forms. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground chicken, curry powder, and black pepper. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink.
- Stir in the coconut milk, soy sauce, and green peas (if using). Cook for an additional 5 minutes until thickened. Let it cool.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 3 mm thickness. Cut into circles (10 cm diameter).
- Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal the edges with a fork.
- Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
