- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture for about 10 minutes, then cut it into cubes.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
- Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for another minute until aromatic.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the tofu cubes. Cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add sliced green bell pepper and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Pour the soy sauce, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper over the tofu and vegetables. Stir well to combine.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
