- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons (30 grams)
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons (45 ml)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu cubes in a single layer, cooking until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes total.
- Remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, stirring to combine.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing to coat it in the sauce, and heat for another 2-3 minutes.
- Serve the crispy tofu over cooked jasmine rice, garnished with chopped green onions.
