Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet in a single layer and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Add the sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for about 5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  7. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, and add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and heat through.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
