- Firm Tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 60 grams
- Vegetable Oil - 120 ml (for frying)
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Soy Sauce - 30 ml
- Rice Vinegar - 15 ml
- Brown Sugar - 10 grams
- Sesame Oil - 5 ml
- Green Onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt - to taste
- Black Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water. Cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer.
- Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same pan, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil to the pan. Stir to combine and cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the crispy tofu to the pan and toss to coat in the garlic sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
