Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 60 grams
  • Vegetable Oil - 120 ml (for frying)
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Soy Sauce - 30 ml
  • Rice Vinegar - 15 ml
  • Brown Sugar - 10 grams
  • Sesame Oil - 5 ml
  • Green Onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water. Cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer.
  4. Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In the same pan, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil to the pan. Stir to combine and cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Return the crispy tofu to the pan and toss to coat in the garlic sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
