- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons

- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
- Black bean sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, coat the tofu cubes with cornstarch, ensuring they are evenly covered.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and fry until golden and crispy on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the red bell pepper and green onion, stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
- Reduce the heat to medium, then add the black bean sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss to coat it in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra green onions if desired.
