Ingredients

  • Silken tofu - 200 grams
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Honey or maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
  • Fresh fruit (like berries or mango) - 100 grams (optional, for serving)

Steps

  1. Drain the silken tofu and gently press it between paper towels to remove excess moisture for about 10 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cornstarch with a pinch of salt.
  4. Roll each tofu cube in the cornstarch mixture until fully coated.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry the tofu cubes in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine honey (or maple syrup), water, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium until it simmers, then reduce to low and let it thicken slightly for about 5 minutes.
  8. To serve, place crispy tofu cubes on a plate, drizzle with the syrup, and garnish with sesame seeds and fresh fruit if desired.
