Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Gluten-free pizza crust - 1 large (store-bought or homemade)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili garlic sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Bell pepper (sliced) - 1/2 cup
  • Red onion (sliced) - 1/4 cup
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (dairy-free if desired) - 1 cup
  • Fresh basil leaves - 1/4 cup

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Drain the firm tofu and press it between paper towels to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into 1 cm cubes.
  3. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and chili garlic sauce. Set aside.
  6. Spread the gluten-free pizza crust on a baking sheet. Brush with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  7. Spread the soy sauce mixture evenly over the pizza crust.
  8. Top the crust with the fried tofu, sliced bell pepper, and sliced red onion. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
