Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Nori sheets - 2 sheets, crumbled
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 milliliters
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Miso paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Chopped green onions - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into fish-like fillets.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, miso paste, lemon juice, garlic powder, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Marinate the tofu fillets in the mixture for 10 minutes, ensuring they are well-coated.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch, all-purpose flour, and rice flour with water to create a thick batter.
  5. Crush the nori sheets and fold them into the batter for an ocean-like flavor.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  7. Dip each marinated tofu fillet in the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place them in the hot oil.
  8. Fry the tofu for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and additional soy sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice.
