Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Chili oil - 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Green onions - 2 tablespoons (chopped, for garnish)
Steps
- Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer.
- Fry the tofu for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; do this in batches if necessary.
- While the tofu is frying, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil in a small bowl.
- Once the tofu is crispy, remove it from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy tofu hot, garnished with chopped green onions, alongside the dipping sauce.
