Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili oil - 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Green onions - 2 tablespoons (chopped, for garnish)

Steps

  1. Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  2. Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer.
  5. Fry the tofu for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; do this in batches if necessary.
  6. While the tofu is frying, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil in a small bowl.
  7. Once the tofu is crispy, remove it from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve the crispy tofu hot, garnished with chopped green onions, alongside the dipping sauce.
