Ingredients
- Taro root - 200 grams
- Rice flour - 100 grams
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Water - 120 milliliters
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- Peel and chop the taro root into small cubes and steam them for about 20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the steamed taro until smooth and let it cool slightly.
- Add rice flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped green onion to the mashed taro. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small balls (about 30 grams each) and flatten them into discs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Test the oil by dropping a small piece of dough; it should sizzle immediately.
- Fry the taro discs in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crispy puffs from the oil and drain them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
