- Taro root - 300 grams
- All-purpose flour - 60 grams
- Cornstarch - 30 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- Peel and cube the taro root, then steam it for about 20 minutes or until tender.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the steamed taro until smooth.
- Add the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, chopped green onions, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and water to the mashed taro. Mix until a thick batter forms.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat, round cake.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the taro cakes in the pan.
- Fry the cakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the cakes from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
