- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 150 ml
- Oil for frying - 500 ml (preferably vegetable oil)
- Chili sauce - 2 tablespoons (for dipping)
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
Steps
- In a medium bowl, mix the rice flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder together.
- Gradually add water to the dry mixture, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Dip the squid rings into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Carefully place the battered squid into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy squid hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and accompanied by chili sauce for dipping.
