Ingredients

  • Squid - 300 grams, cleaned and cut into rings
  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Oil for frying - 500 ml (preferably vegetable oil)
  • Chili sauce - 2 tablespoons (for dipping)
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the rice flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder together.
  2. Gradually add water to the dry mixture, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  4. Dip the squid rings into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
  5. Carefully place the battered squid into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve the crispy squid hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and accompanied by chili sauce for dipping.
