- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Once the tofu is crispy, pour the sauce over it and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the tofu, and serve hot with rice and vegetables.
