  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  5. Once the tofu is crispy, pour the sauce over it and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat, sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the tofu, and serve hot with rice and vegetables.
