Ingredients

  • Nori sheets - 4 sheets
  • Firm tofu - 200 grams, pressed and crumbled
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
  • Red bell pepper - 1 small, julienned
  • Avocado - 1 ripe, sliced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the crumbled tofu with soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and salt. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat or a clean surface. Place a small amount of the marinated tofu mixture on the bottom third of the nori, followed by a few strips of carrot, cucumber, red bell pepper, and a slice of avocado.
  3. Roll the nori tightly from the bottom, using the mat to help shape it into a cylinder. Seal the edge with a little water.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining nori sheets and filling ingredients.
  5. Once all rolls are made, cut them into bite-sized pieces.
  6. In a shallow dish, spread cornstarch. Dredge each roll in cornstarch to coat evenly.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the rolls in batches, frying until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  8. Remove the rolls from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm with additional soy sauce or dipping sauce of choice.
