Ingredients
- Nori sheets - 4 sheets
- Firm tofu - 200 grams, pressed and crumbled
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Red bell pepper - 1 small, julienned
- Avocado - 1 ripe, sliced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the crumbled tofu with soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and salt. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat or a clean surface. Place a small amount of the marinated tofu mixture on the bottom third of the nori, followed by a few strips of carrot, cucumber, red bell pepper, and a slice of avocado.
- Roll the nori tightly from the bottom, using the mat to help shape it into a cylinder. Seal the edge with a little water.
- Repeat the process with the remaining nori sheets and filling ingredients.
- Once all rolls are made, cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- In a shallow dish, spread cornstarch. Dredge each roll in cornstarch to coat evenly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the rolls in batches, frying until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the rolls from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with additional soy sauce or dipping sauce of choice.
