- Nori seaweed sheets - 4 sheets
- Rice flour - 50 grams
- Cornstarch - 30 grams
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- Cold water - 100 ml
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 200 ml
Steps
- Cut the nori seaweed sheets into strips or desired shapes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and chili powder (if using).
- Gradually add cold water to the dry mixture, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Dip each piece of nori into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place them in the hot oil.
- Fry the seaweed in batches for about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crispy seaweed with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot as a snack or side dish, optionally garnished with sesame seeds or served with a dipping sauce.
