Ingredients

  • Pork skin - 200 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil for frying - 500 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 120°C (250°F).
  2. Rinse the pork skin under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Score the pork skin with a sharp knife in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
  4. In a bowl, mix the salt, five-spice powder, garlic powder, and black pepper together.
  5. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the scored pork skin, making sure it gets into the cuts.
  6. Place the pork skin on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes to render the fat.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the pork skin cool slightly before cutting it into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  9. Once the oil is hot, fry the pork pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
  10. Remove the crispy pork rinds and drain on paper towels, then immediately drizzle with soy sauce while hot.
  11. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
