Ingredients

  • Honey - 15 grams
  • Five-spice powder - 5 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Chopped green onions - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, five-spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  2. Add the pork ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
  3. Remove the ribs from the marinade and pat them dry with paper towels. Reserve the leftover marinade for basting.
  4. Coat the ribs evenly with cornstarch, ensuring all surfaces are covered to achieve a crispy texture.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat (about 180°C or 350°F).
  6. Carefully add the ribs to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the fried ribs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
