  • Fresh pineapple - 200 grams, peeled and cut into small chunks
  • All-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Milk - 60 ml
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Oil for frying - enough for deep frying (approximately 500 ml)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  5. Dip each pineapple chunk into the batter, coating it evenly, then carefully drop it into the hot oil.
  6. Fry the pineapple chunks in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan, for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fried pineapple pieces with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey.
