Ingredients
- Portobello mushrooms - 2 large
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger powder - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Sliced cucumber - 100 grams
- Sriracha sauce - to taste
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Clean the Portobello mushrooms and remove the stems. Marinate them in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and black pepper for at least 15 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with cornstarch, another with all-purpose flour, and the last with Panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each marinated mushroom first in cornstarch, then dip in flour, and finally coat with Panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded mushrooms and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- While the mushrooms are frying, toast the burger buns in a separate pan until lightly golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the crispy mushroom patty, sliced cucumber, a drizzle of Sriracha sauce, and a tablespoon of mayonnaise. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
