Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey or agave syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 1 cup
- Skewers - 4 (wooden or metal)
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
- Add the cubed tofu to the marinade, gently tossing to coat. Allow it to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- After marinating, skewer the tofu cubes onto the skewers, about 4-5 pieces per skewer.
- Place cornstarch in a shallow dish and roll each skewer in the cornstarch to coat evenly.
- In a frying pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- Carefully add the tofu skewers to the hot oil, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the skewers from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with chopped scallions or sesame seeds.
