Ingredients

  • White fish fillet (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large, beaten
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Cooking oil (for frying) - 100 ml
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1/2, grated
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Start by seasoning the fish fillet with salt and black pepper. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare a breading station: place cornstarch in one bowl, beaten egg in another, and panko breadcrumbs in a third.
  3. Coat the fish fillet first in cornstarch, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded fish fillet to the pan and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, soy sauce, and lime juice to create a zesty sauce.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan for added flavor and crunch.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading the sauce on the bottom half of each bun, placing the crispy fish fillet on top, and adding sliced cucumber, grated carrot, and chopped cilantro.
  8. Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
