Ingredients
- White fish fillet (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large, beaten
- Panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Cooking oil (for frying) - 100 ml
- Burger buns - 2 pieces
- Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Carrot - 1/2, grated
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Start by seasoning the fish fillet with salt and black pepper. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare a breading station: place cornstarch in one bowl, beaten egg in another, and panko breadcrumbs in a third.
- Coat the fish fillet first in cornstarch, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it with panko breadcrumbs until fully covered.
- Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded fish fillet to the pan and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, soy sauce, and lime juice to create a zesty sauce.
- Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan for added flavor and crunch.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the sauce on the bottom half of each bun, placing the crispy fish fillet on top, and adding sliced cucumber, grated carrot, and chopped cilantro.
- Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
