Ingredients

- Steamed bao buns - 2 pieces
- Cucumber - 50 grams, julienned
- Carrot - 50 grams, julienned
- Fresh cilantro - a handful
- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Score the skin of the duck breast in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
- Season the duck breast with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Place the duck breast skin-side down in a cold, dry skillet and turn the heat to medium. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until the skin is crispy and browned, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the duck breast to the preheated oven and roast for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 65°C (150°F).
- Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.
- In a small bowl, mix the hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create a sauce.
- Warm the bao buns according to package instructions (usually steaming for about 5 minutes).
- To assemble, spread a tablespoon of the hoisin sauce mixture inside each bao bun, add sliced duck, and top with cucumber, carrot, and cilantro.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Crispy Duck Bao!
