Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - 300 grams, boneless and skinless
  • Brussels sprouts - 200 grams, halved
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons, low-sodium
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons for frying
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  4. Toss the halved Brussels sprouts with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread them on the prepared baking tray and roast for 20 minutes, turning halfway through until crispy.
  5. After marinating, remove the chicken from the marinade and toss it in cornstarch until well coated.
  6. In a large skillet, heat the remaining vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces in a single layer and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Ensure they are cooked through.
  7. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  8. To serve, combine the crispy chicken and roasted Brussels sprouts on a plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
