Ingredients
- Chicken thighs - 300 grams, boneless and skinless
- Brussels sprouts - 200 grams, halved
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons, low-sodium
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons for frying
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- While the chicken is marinating, preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Toss the halved Brussels sprouts with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread them on the prepared baking tray and roast for 20 minutes, turning halfway through until crispy.
- After marinating, remove the chicken from the marinade and toss it in cornstarch until well coated.
- In a large skillet, heat the remaining vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces in a single layer and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Ensure they are cooked through.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- To serve, combine the crispy chicken and roasted Brussels sprouts on a plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
