Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 250 grams, sliced into thin strips
  • Broccoli florets - 200 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (ensure it's kosher)
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. While the chicken marinates, prepare the broccoli by blanching it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with the beaten egg until well combined. Add the marinated chicken to this mixture, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken strips in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In the same skillet, add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add the brown sugar and water, stirring to create a light sauce.
  6. Return the crispy chicken to the skillet, tossing everything together to combine and heat through.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
