Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 250 grams, sliced into thin strips
- Broccoli florets - 200 grams
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (ensure it's kosher)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Marinate for 15 minutes.
- While the chicken marinates, prepare the broccoli by blanching it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with the beaten egg until well combined. Add the marinated chicken to this mixture, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken strips in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add the brown sugar and water, stirring to create a light sauce.
- Return the crispy chicken to the skillet, tossing everything together to combine and heat through.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
