Ingredients

  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • All-purpose flour - 30 grams

  • Vegetable oil - 150 ml (for frying)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Orange juice - 100 ml, freshly squeezed
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with salt, black pepper, and half of the cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the remaining cornstarch, all-purpose flour, and beaten egg to create a batter for the beef.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Coat the marinated beef slices in the batter, then carefully add them to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate pan, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Add orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar to the pan. Stir well and bring to a simmer for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Add the crispy beef to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
