- Firm Tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 50 grams
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil - 200 ml (for frying)
- Soy Sauce - 2 tablespoons (for dipping)
- Rice Vinegar - 1 tablespoon (for dipping)
- Chili Oil - 1 teaspoon (optional, for dipping)
Steps
- Press the firm tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Coat each tofu cube in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried tofu and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil to create a dipping sauce.
- Serve the crispy bean curd hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
