Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil - 200 ml (for frying)
  • Soy Sauce - 2 tablespoons (for dipping)
  • Rice Vinegar - 1 tablespoon (for dipping)
  • Chili Oil - 1 teaspoon (optional, for dipping)

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Coat each tofu cube in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  5. Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried tofu and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil to create a dipping sauce.
  8. Serve the crispy bean curd hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
