Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 30 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Steamed bao buns - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 50 grams, thinly sliced
  • Pickled carrots - 50 grams
  • Chili sauce - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture and then crumble it into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped coriander leaves, soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the crumbled tofu and mix well until combined.
  3. Shape the tofu mixture into two equal-sized patties.
  4. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the tofu patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. In the meantime, steam the bao buns according to package instructions until soft and warm.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a tofu patty on each bao bun, topping with sliced cucumber, pickled carrots, and a drizzle of chili sauce.
