- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Fresh coriander leaves - 30 grams, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped for garnish
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan, stirring gently to coat the rice with the oil and spices.
- Add 300 ml of water, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the pan, and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, then stir in the chopped fresh coriander.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
