Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 150g
  • Coconut milk - 200ml
  • Protein powder (vanilla or unflavored) - 30g
  • Sugar - 30g
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Desiccated coconut - 50g
  • Water - 300ml

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in 300ml of water for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and transfer it to a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 20 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and tender.
  4. In a bowl, mix the steamed rice with coconut milk, protein powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  5. Let the mixture cool slightly, then wet your hands and form the mixture into small balls, about 3-4 cm in diameter.
  6. Roll each ball in desiccated coconut to coat evenly.
  7. Place the coconut sticky rice balls on a plate and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to firm up before serving.
