- Glutinous rice - 150 grams
- Coconut milk - 200 milliliters
- Water - 100 milliliters
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh mango slices (for serving) - 1 small mango
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or parchment paper.
- In a small pot, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt, and heat over low until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil.
- Add the water to the pot and mix well, then pour half of the coconut mixture over the soaked rice in the steamer.
- Cover the steamer and steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes until it is fully cooked and sticky.
- Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the steamer and transfer it to a serving bowl.
- Pour the remaining coconut mixture over the warm rice, and gently mix to combine.
- Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds and fresh mango slices on the side.
