Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Coconut milk - 100 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 20 grams
- Salt - 3 grams
- Vegetable oil - 15 ml
- Warm water - 50 ml
- Sesame seeds - for topping (optional)
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture and coconut milk to the flour mixture, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces, shaping each piece into a bun.
- Place the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover them, and let them rise for an additional 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Optionally, brush the tops of the buns with a little vegetable oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
