Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • coconut milk - 100 ml
  • sugar - 30 grams
  • active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • salt - 3 grams
  • vegetable oil - 20 ml
  • water - 50 ml
  • cornstarch - 10 grams (for dusting)

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm water with the active dry yeast and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the coconut milk, vegetable oil, and the yeast mixture.
  3. Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
  6. Place the dough balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover them with a cloth, and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  8. Bake the buns in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
