Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- coconut milk - 100 ml
- sugar - 30 grams
- active dry yeast - 5 grams
- salt - 3 grams
- vegetable oil - 20 ml
- water - 50 ml
- cornstarch - 10 grams (for dusting)
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water with the active dry yeast and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the coconut milk, vegetable oil, and the yeast mixture.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30-40 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
- Place the dough balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover them with a cloth, and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the buns in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
