- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 4
- Chili sauce - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and ground black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the tofu slices to the marinade and let them sit for at least 10 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
- Skewer the marinated tofu slices along with the sliced red bell pepper and chopped green onions.
- Grill the skewers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until the tofu is golden brown and slightly charred.
- While the skewers are grilling, toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, until lightly crispy.
- Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce leaves on the bottom half of the bun, followed by the grilled tofu skewers, cucumber slices, and a drizzle of chili sauce if desired.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
