Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 300 milliliters
  • Fresh chives - 30 grams, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  4. While the rice is cooking, heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the chopped chives and cook for an additional minute, allowing the chives to soften slightly.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and add it to the frying pan with the chives and garlic.
  7. Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice and gently stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  9. Serve warm as a main dish or side.
