Ingredients

  • Chinese chives - 100 grams
  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Tapioca starch - 25 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - for greasing

Steps

  1. Chop the Chinese chives into small pieces and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, tapioca starch, salt, and white pepper.
  3. Gradually add the water to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
  4. Stir in the chopped Chinese chives and sesame oil until evenly mixed.
  5. Grease a shallow steaming dish with vegetable oil and pour the batter into it.
  6. Prepare a steamer and bring the water to a boil.
  7. Place the steaming dish in the steamer and cover with a lid.
  8. Steam the chive pudding for about 25 minutes or until set and firm.
  9. Remove from the steamer and allow to cool slightly before slicing into squares.
