- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Bell pepper (red) - 1 medium, sliced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, chili paste, and sugar. Pour the sauce over the stir-fried vegetables.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing well to coat with the sauce and vegetables. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Drizzle sesame oil over the dish, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
