Ingredients
- Chickpeas - 200 grams (cooked)
- Bread crumbs - 50 grams
- Chili oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon (grated)
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Green onion - 2 stalks (finely chopped)
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons (chopped)
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
- Tomato - 1 (sliced)
- Cucumber - 1/2 (sliced)
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas until slightly chunky.
- Add bread crumbs, chili oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, chopped green onion, cilantro, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little chili oil. Once hot, cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the sauce by mixing mayonnaise and rice vinegar in a small bowl.
- Toast the burger buns in the same skillet for 1-2 minutes until warm and slightly crispy.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the chickpea patty, slices of tomato, cucumber, and a drizzle of the mayonnaise sauce.
