Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 250 grams, thinly sliced
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili bean paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped for garnish
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add the minced garlic, ginger, and sliced onion. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the pan and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Return the beef to the pan, then add the chili bean paste and sesame oil. Stir well to combine and heat through for another 2 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
