Ingredients
- Chicken thighs - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 15 grams
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, black pepper, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
- Prepare your charcoal grill and allow the coals to reach a medium heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off, and place the chicken thighs on the grill.
- Grill the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) and the chicken is nicely charred.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
