Ingredients
- Pork tenderloin - 300 grams
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (low sodium)
- Hoison sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Place the pork tenderloin in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring it is well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Remove the pork from the marinade and place it on the prepared baking tray. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Roast the pork in the oven for 25-30 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade every 10 minutes, until the pork is cooked through and caramelized on the outside.
- Once cooked, let the pork rest for 5 minutes before slicing it into thin pieces.
- Serve the sliced Char Siu garnished with chopped green onions.
