Ingredients
- Beef sirloin - 300 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
- Rice wine - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander (fresh) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Spring onions - 2, chopped for garnish
Steps
- Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick, and place in a mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine garlic, ginger, shallots, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
- Pour the marinade over the sliced beef, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the beef from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the marinade for later.
- Grill the beef strips for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- In the last minute of cooking, add the reserved marinade to the pan to heat through, creating a glaze for the beef.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and garnish with chopped coriander and spring onions before serving.
