Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
  • Rice wine - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander (fresh) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick, and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine garlic, ginger, shallots, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the sliced beef, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
  4. Preheat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove the beef from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the marinade for later.
  6. Grill the beef strips for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  7. In the last minute of cooking, add the reserved marinade to the pan to heat through, creating a glaze for the beef.
  8. Once cooked, remove from heat and garnish with chopped coriander and spring onions before serving.
