- Nian Gao (Chinese rice cakes) - 200 grams
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Carrot, julienned - 1 medium
- Bell pepper, julienned - 1 medium
- Bok choy, chopped - 100 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Spring onions, sliced - 2 stalks
Steps
- Soak the Nian Gao in warm water for about 30 minutes until softened, then drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the julienned carrot and bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Add the chopped bok choy and stir-fry for another 2 minutes until it wilts.
- Add the soaked Nian Gao to the pan. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce, and stir well to combine all ingredients.
- Continue to stir-fry for another 5-7 minutes until the Nian Gao is heated through and slightly crispy on the edges.
- Drizzle sesame oil over the dish and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with sliced spring onions before serving.
