Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Instant yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 10 ml (for dough)
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 50 grams, grated
  • Bell pepper - 50 grams, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 10 grams, minced
  • Soy sauce - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Salt and pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, instant yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a pan, heat 10 ml of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage, grated carrot, and diced bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, and mix well. Add chopped green onions, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it into a circle (about 10 cm in diameter).
  7. Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each dough circle. Bring the edges together to seal the filling inside and form a bun. Pinch the top to secure.
  8. Place the buns on parchment paper and let them rest for another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare a steamer.
  9. Steam the buns in the steamer for about 15 minutes until they are fluffy and cooked through. Serve hot.
