Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers - 12 pieces
  • Ground chicken - 100 grams
  • Shrimp, peeled and deveined - 50 grams
  • Green onions, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chicken broth (kosher) - 500 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish - optional

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped shrimp, green onions, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and white pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling mixture into the center of the wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle, and press to seal. Then bring the two corners of the triangle together, pinching to seal completely. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a gentle simmer. Carefully add the wontons to the broth and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
  5. Taste the broth and adjust seasoning with salt as needed.
  6. Serve the wontons in bowls with hot broth, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
