Ingredients

  • Fresh shrimp - 300 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, finely sliced
  • Scallions - 2, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare the shrimp by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, combine the shrimp, ginger, scallions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Mix well to ensure the shrimp are evenly coated with the marinade.
  3. Let the shrimp marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Set up a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. If using a bamboo steamer, line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the marinated shrimp in a single layer on a heatproof plate that fits inside the steamer.
  6. Once the water is boiling, carefully place the plate with shrimp into the steamer and cover it with a lid.
  7. Steam the shrimp for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are pink and opaque.
  8. Remove the plate from the steamer, garnish with coriander leaves, and serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.
