Ingredients

  • Shrimp (large, peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Fresh ginger (sliced thin) - 20 grams
  • Scallions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves (for garnish) - a handful

Steps

  1. Prepare the shrimp by rinsing them under cold water and patting dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with sliced ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. While the shrimp is marinating, prepare a steamer by filling a pot with water and bringing it to a simmer.
  4. Place the marinated shrimp in a heatproof dish and sprinkle chopped scallions over the top.
  5. Once the water is simmering, place the dish with shrimp in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for about 8-10 minutes or until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.
