- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Red food coloring - a few drops (optional)
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and red food coloring (if using).
- Score the skin of the duck breasts in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
- Place the duck breasts in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Remove the duck from the marinade and place it skin-side up on a roasting rack over a baking tray.
- Roast the duck in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- Let the duck rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm with steamed vegetables or a low-carb side of your choice.
