Ingredients

  • Whole wheat bao buns - 2
  • Ground chicken or turkey - 200 grams
  • Shredded carrots - 50 grams
  • Chopped bok choy - 50 grams
  • Minced ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Minced garlic - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or turkey, shredded carrots, chopped bok choy, minced ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions, shaping each into a patty.
  3. Prepare a steamer and bring water to a boil. Place the bao buns in the steamer basket, and steam for about 5 minutes until warmed through.
  4. While the buns are steaming, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. To assemble, place each patty inside a steamed bao bun and top with chopped cilantro. Serve immediately.
