Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams
  • Green cabbage - 200 grams, finely shredded
  • Carrot - 50 grams, julienned
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
  2. In a medium pot, bring 300 ml of water to a boil. Add the soaked rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  3. While the rice is cooking, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage and julienned carrots to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Stir in the chopped spring onions and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and add it to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, mixing everything well.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through before serving.
